Position Paper
My research interests are: lexicography and lexicogrammar, corpus linguistics, natural language processing, language technology infrastructure and computer-assisted language learning and teaching, all in connection with the Slovene language. In the years 2008-2013 I coordinated a project (http://eng.slovenscina.eu/) which produced web portals dedicated to the investigation of the real problems that pupils and students encouter when writing in standard Slovene, offering them explanations and solutions to these problems in an interesting and easy-to-understand form – on the web. The project was based on the premise that the concept of reference works and textbooks on languages will radically change in digital environment and aimed at providing new solutions. Part of the project was also dedicated to the technical issues of visualising large collections of language data. General topics addressed were reading literacy, comprehensibility and readability, particularly in connection with Natural Language Processing tasks. Within E-READ action I would like to continue to work on these topics and develop international cooperation with other members.
