Expertise: Reading expert with a focus on both experimental and developmental research on the cognitive processes that support learning and memory in the context of reading comprehension. Current research in the experimental line include systematic investigations of the factors involved in learning from our textual experiences with an emphasis on the complex interactions of text, learner, and task demands. In the developmental line, current research includes the investigation of the development of skills that support learning from texts in cross-linguistic environments and the development of technology-based, adaptive reading assessments in K-12. Dr. Kendeou also serves as Associate Editor for leading journals in the field: the Journal of Educational Psychology and the Journal of Research in Reading.
