Position Paper
Lefkios Neophytou is an adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Nicosia and an Educational Officer at the Office of the Cyprus’s Commissioner for Children’s Rights. He attended undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Cyprus (B.A. in Educational Sciences, 1999; M.A. in Educational Administration and Curriculum Development, 2004; PhD in Curriculum and Instruction, 2009). He worked as a schoolteacher, as a researcher and a member of the Special Teaching Staff at the University of Cyprus, as a visiting lecturer at the Cyprus International Institute of Management, as adjunct faculty at the Open University of Cyprus, as an Educational Officer at the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Nicosia.
His research interest on literacy falls within the spectrum of curriculum and instruction (i.e. differentiation of instruction for the promotion of literacy, improving the literacy skills of immigrant children, literacy for children from a deprived socioeconomic background, motives, attitudes, habits and behaviors of students towards reading, promotion of enjoyment in reading).”
