Position Paper
Kristiane Hauer is a PhD Fellow at Department of Nordic Studies and Linguistics, University of
Copenhagen (UCPH) and University College Capital (UCC), Denmark, working with reading
research, educational research, literacy and the relationship between fiction reading and deep
attention. Currently, she is conducting a project about deep reading in the literature class in
the Danish lower secondary school. Through didactic activities that encourage deep reading
practices in the literature class the project investigates the possibilities of actively improving
the pupils’ general ability to stay focused and practice deep learning.
